What breed of dog is said to be the most loyal?
No matter what kind of dog, if you treat it well, it will be loyal to you! I have one Samoyed. All the animals have the same feature.
The most loyal breed of dog in the world is no doubt most certainly the Labrador Retriever. Their roots date back to Newfoundland off the east coast of North America. They’re one of, if not, the most popular breeds in the entire world. They are known for their ease with children, loyalty, gentleness, intelligence, endless energy, and cheerful temperament.
The Great Pyrenees is THE loyalist dog. Its at the top of it’s class in guarding livestock and is highly protective of other animals or their guardians. Especially children. It is important to socialize this breed due to its protective nature, as it is leery of strangers.
Other VERY loyal breeds include: Shetland Sheepdog, German Shepherd, St. Bernard, Rough Collie, Kuvasz, Akita, Am Staff Terrier, and Mastiff. All of those breeds are ridiculously loyal to their care givers, but if not properly socialized, may be aggressive (or shy) with strangers.
When searching for a loyal breed of dog it’s a good idea to do lots of research to find a canine companion match for you and your family dynamics ,all to often people have good intentions but then find out their choice wasn’t what they expected and the dog or puppy ends up in an already sadly over crowded shelter. If you want a family dog to remain loyal throughout its life time then getting him or her spayed or neutered is always the best choice ,their devotion is to you and not getting distracted by searching for a mate .
If you would like a loyal dog, look for a dog bred to work with humans. Hunting breeds and herding breeds are usually the best for this. Their roots go back to dogs who had to work closely with people to do their jobs, so this trait was favored and bred strongly into them. Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Brittanies, Pointers, Border Collies, Vizslas, and Australian Shepherds are some of the best breeds in my experience for loyalty. They bond very closely with people and are highly intelligent, friendly, and loving breeds.
