What can an employee do if their supervisor has substantially increased the responsibilities of the employee’s position but refuses to support a reclassification review?

An employee has the right to bypass the supervisor and/or unit leadership to initiate a review of the classification of his or her position directly with LSA Human Resources. The supervisor’s opinion and unit leadership’s view of the position will still be sought and considered in the review. If it is determined that the duties of the position substantially exceed the classification, the unit will be obligated to either decrease the responsibilities back to the level appropriate with the assigned classification, or to support and fund the higher classification level. The management of assigned duties and levels of positions within a unit is the responsibility and prerogative of the leadership of that unit. Employees cannot substantially change (increase or decrease) the responsibilities associated with their positions without the consent of the supervisor and unit leadership.
