What Can I Expect After an Electromyography / Nerve Velocity Conduction Test?

0

You may feel some soreness or notice some bruising in the muscles tested for a few days after an EMG, but you should not have any other symptoms. Nerve conduction studies are minimally invasive and have no side effects. Patients taking “blood thinning” medication, are pregnant, have a pacemaker or spinal cord stimulator must tell the examiner prior to the study. This does not prevent the study, but special precautions will be taken. Please contact us with any questions about specific testing procedures. If necessary, we can arrange a brief demonstration of how the test will be conducted to put you at ease. Please also note that the test can be stopped at any time, should you find the test objectionable in any way.
