What can we do to alleviate sadness, anxiety, uncertainty and fears about the prospects of military conflict?
The key thing is to realize that the history of mankind is a history of one military conflict after another. The Pentagon realizes this by defining the word “peace” as a time between two conflicts in which to prepare for the next conflict. History is a series of dates, battlefields and victors. Remember history is always written (rewritten) by the winners, never the losers. I do not believe that the nature of “self-interest” is going to change suddenly, rapidly or positively.
