What careers can come from an Architectural History degree or art and architectural history degree?

I am an art historian. You can’t go anywhere without earning an advanced degree. Most of us work as university professors or museum curators. For the first career, you need a PhD, which is my degree. For the second, you may be able to get away with a master’s, especially if you’re interested in administration rather than scholarly curatorial work, but curators at major museums usually have PhDs. You could conceivably get a position at an art gallery (that is, a gallery that sells art) with just a bachelor’s/first degree, but these jobs are hard to obtain and do not pay well. It might take years to work your way up to director or another higher position. Another option would be an auction house like Sotheby’s or Christie’s, but again, many of their expert staff have advanced degrees. Sotheby’s has a postgraduate degree program that is well-regarded.
