Oxidation is a chemical reaction where two or more substances interact, resulting in the loss of at least one electron. Oxidation creates free radicals that are highly unstable and reactive. Free radicals are atoms with unpaired electrons; they attack the nearest stable molecule (with paired electrons) to steal its electron.
