What causes brake squeal at low speeds?
Low speed brake squeal today is just cheap pads. If the brakes are not “grabbing” (And it’s hard to tell with ABS!) or chattering, then unless the noise bothers you it’s not a problem. When I say cheap pads, they don’t make them with the same material they used 30 years ago. Now a good set of brakes will set you back quite a bit. What you can try is going back to the shop and explaining the problem. The fact that you only get the noise at low speed already eliminates a bunch of possible problems, and they make take a look at the brakes again for nothing. But be prepared to pay at least an hour labor charge if not stilll under warranty. Another thing that will cause new brake pads (Or shoes if you have drums in the back.) to squeal is driving correctly. Yes, I said driving correctly. You only use as much brake as you need if you are driving defensively. When you use the brake lightly, there is more chance of squeal because the brake is designed to be used by the lowest common denominato
