What Causes Diabetes 2?
In the United States, over 20 million people have diabetes, and 90 to 95% are type 2 diabetics. Medical costs annually are $132 billion, according to the American Diabetes Association website. Type 2 diabetes is considered an epidemic because originally type 2 diabetes was an adult onset disease. Today, doctors are diagnosing the disease in young children, and the numbers continue to rise each year. Prevention is possible for some; however, family history does play a role in the causes of type 2 diabetes.
