What Causes Dog Prostate Gland Infections?
This condition as you may have guessed is caused by infection and inflammation in the prostate gland. The prostate gland is a small almost spherical gland that is situated in the urethra (tube inside the penis used to urinate through) and produces fluids to carry and feed sperm during the mating process. The pain felt by your dog when urinating is simply because of the increased size of the gland causing the urethra tube to have a smaller opening and more pain and strenuous attempts to pass urine. What Your Vet May Say or Do After letting your vet know about the symptoms you are seeing in your dog, he will then probably check for fever by checking the temperature of your dog. If prostate gland infections are still a possible case then your vet will have to confirm this by feeling the enlarged prostate gland with their fingers via the anus.
