What causes holes in broccoli leaves?

Cabbage worms are broccoli lovers as well as beetles and slugs. You can protect your plant naturally with a mixture of dish soap (no antibacterial), red pepper powder, garlic powder and water in a spray bottle (find these cheap at Dollar Tree). You only need a half tspn of soap (Dawn works great), 1 tspn of ground red pepper, garlic powder and warm water. Fill water in bottle slowly at an angle so you don’t fill bottle up with suds. Then shake. Let sit overnight and shake before every use. Make sure to spray the bottom of the leaves. Often times this is where the worms like to eat. You can keep slugs away by creating a barrier /circle of ground eggshells, ash from a fire pit or grill, around the base of your plants. The spray should repel the beatles.

One common cause is cabbage worms. To get rid of them you can use Bacillus thuringiensis.
