What causes people to sweat more than others?
Doctors do not know why some people sweat more than others, but they believe that the condition can be inherited, especially with people who sweat more on their soles and palms. The cause of sweating and body odor most probably stems from your body’s temperature regulation system, specifically your sweat glands. Excessive sweating can occasionally be a sign of illness. For example, it is one of the symptoms of an overactive thyroid gland, which increases the body’s metabolic rate – the rate at which food and oxygen are burned to provide energy. Other factors that contribute to excessively sweating include genetics, alcoholism, and side effects to certain medications.
