What Causes Traumatic Brain Injuries?
Falls, motor vehicle accidents, having one’s head struck by or against an object and assaults are the leading cause of traumatic brain injuries. The brain can be injured in two basic ways: • A severe blow to the head disrupts brain function. • A violent back and forth movement of the brain within the skull — like shaking a baby or whiplash from a car accident — injures the brain.
