What changes can the people of San Diego expect?
Frankly, the office has been disorganized the past four years. We’re going to rebuild and reorganize it. After talking to a lot of people, I’ve decided to divide the office into four separate and distinct divisions – criminal; civil litigation; advisory [to other city departments]; and community lawyering, which will deal with consumer protection, neighborhood prosecution, code enforcement. At the head of each of those divisions will be a deputy city attorney, who will be clothed with authority and responsibility and will be my partners and sit on the executive committee.
