What characteristics do living and non-living things share?

They are both made from stuff. Stuff may be molecules or different combinations of various atoms. Most living things have C, H, O, N (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen). There’s a lot of stuff besides these, like your blood has a lot of iron in it. There’s also sulfur and phosphorus, sodium, potassium, chloride and all of the minerals that you might find in a multiple vitamin. Dirt has mostly silicon and some carbon and oxygen and sulfur and a whole bunch of other stuff too. See, everything is made from stuff.
