What could cause sudden sharp, lasting pain in back right of head after running?

I was running home, and I suddenly heard a “click” and the back right of my head, right behind my right ear, exploded with pain. It’s still there, unless I tilt my head: very sharp pain. i think you had a tear in your right sternocliedomastoid (the 2 long muscles in front of your neck that stiffin when you are looking to the sides of your head or tilt your head downwards against resistance ) at it’s origin at the back of your ear. it is relieved by turning the head to it’s side(right) . i think you should have complete rest and a neck collar for supportion of your head untill the pain goes (2-3 weeks).
