What did Americans do to the Vietnamese during the war….like war tactics…????
No more or less ( on the individual level ) than they did to US personnel. Some US military personnel cut off ears, pulled teeth, scalped etc. To maim a Buddhist soldier really screws up his chances to go to that where-ever big place Buddhists go after they’ve died, so they believed. Now hold that thought for awhile, because the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong did the same to US personnel with some twists. They cut off our soldiers and marines penises and testicles and stuck them in our personnel’s mouth. Now, throw in arc-lites, H and I artillery fire, artillery fire on individual enemy elements,air-strikes ( High explosive and napalm bombs (Loved that), Flechettes in 2.75″ aerial rockets, mini-guns,(Loved those too) Foo gas buried on the perimeters of LZ’s and base camps, Claymores (I loved them also) plant booby-tapped ammunition for the enemy to use to blow up in their faces when used ( that was nice but not all that effective) and yes we did some pretty nasty things to the Viet Con
This is total bull the Viet-Cong did horrible things such as dressing up as nuns in the Battle of Saigon and walking up to our men and shoting them point blank useing their women and children against us putting sam sights in villages so we couldn’t do anything on bombing raids and several other things War tactics included Working closely with the Army of the South Vietnamese the Americans tried to make it difficult for the Viet Cong to gain support from the South Vietnamese peasants. the United States eventually fielded an army of over 500,000 men and engaged in extensive air and naval warfare against North Vietnam Of all aircraft, the helicopter was the most useful, dropping platoons in the jungle clearings and out again. They were excellent air ambulances. BUt there were some tactics that we used This was backed up by phosphorous and napalm bombs – the latter causing dreadful burns to thousand of innocent civilians. When this failed to break down the jungle cover the USAF started ‘Ope
