NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music took a couple of swipes at Kanye West’s infamous September interruption of Taylor Swift at the MTV VMAs at Wednesday night’s CMA Awards in Nashville. Following Taylor Swift’s opening number – a performance of “Forever & Always,” which included a cameo by Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell — CMA co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley took the stage and ripped the rapper. Opened with “Forever and Always” performance from Taylor Swift, 2009 Country Music Association Awards continued with a duet between the show’s hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. They delivered lines which make reference to Kanye West who interrupted Taylor at 2009 MTV VMAs. “Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be Kanye / Let ’em pic guitars and drive them old trucks / ’cause cowboys have manners, they don’t interrupt,” they sang. Jimmy came onto the stage and interrupted Brad when he talked about his “Welcome to the Future” video by saying that Taylor has the best video ever. Another live performance came from the winner of Vocal Duo of the Year Sugarland who performed a ballad track called “Keep You”. Taylor entertained the audience once again with “Fifteen” and Carrie brought her “Cowboy Casanova”. There was also a collaboration between D

Brad Paisley had no qualms about having a little fun at the expense of Kanye West at Wednesday night’s CMAs, which he co-hosted with Carrie Underwood in Nashville. “Him I wasn’t worried about,” Brad told Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell backstage at the awards show. “I didn’t think I’d run into him back here.” As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Brad and Carrie opened the 2009 CMAs by tweaking the lyrics to “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” to include a reference to the rapper. “Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to Kanye,” Brad sang with Carrie. “Let them pick guitars and drive them old trucks, ‘cause cowboys have manners, they don’t interrupt.” And following the show, Brad said the jab showed that country music supports their own.
