What did king John do to upset his people?

Upseting ‘his’ people wasn’t quite the problem. The majority iof English and Normans and a few others living in the lands misgoverned by King John Lackland had little to say on matters. It was the Barons who were thoroughly P-O ed at King John for reasons that included him/ involved him plus a slew of issues that Joh had no control over such as the fact that his father Henry and brother Richard inisted on waging war whenever possible draining the treasury and ravaging the countryside. The Nephew you allude to was Arthur the First of Brittany whose father Geoffrey, in my humble opinion, would have been a great King. KIng John had Arthur Murdered, or did the deed himsef, angered by King Phillip of France’s suggestion that John abdicate in favor of Arthur. It was a particlarly nasty murder. Here is the dreaded wikipedia link to Shakespear’s play and a blurb.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_John Synopsis The play opens
