Once the 100m world record holder and top sprinter in the world, Maurice Greene has been a bit quiet in recent years. But the 100m champion from four years ago in Sydney has rediscovered some of his best form, winning the US trials in 9.91 seconds. With world record holder Tim Montgomery not quick enough to qualify for the Games, Greene will be one of the favourites to retain his title. And with few non-US athletes breaking 10 seconds for the 100m this year the Americans will be very confident of winning the relay as well.
