What did the egyptians use to grow wheat and barley?
It was not the Egyptians but people of the Indus valley civilization and people of Vedic culture in India over several thousand years ago as is documented in texts and the use of such products in various forms including rituals etc., who first started organized agriculture and irrigation and were growing wheat, barley, rice, millet, corn and several other things way before nile valley civilization. The main reason to grow wheat and barley is for food both for humans and animals, the seeds for the humans and the remainder is used to feed the animals.
