Oh – heck – this isn’t easy. You have people with intolerances or allergies or conditions all over the place now. Common ones are: vegetarian or vegan coeliacs (need gluten free food) Nut allergies Lactose intolerances (no dairy) My best suggestion is to either – a) ask the people you have coming if they have anything they can’t eat and then set the menu b) set a menu and then ask the people coming if they can’t eat anything on the list c) Have 2-3 choices with each course, one of which is Vegetarian and one of which is Gluten, nut and dairy free.

It’s impossible to have one menu that would cater for everyone if you have a large guest list. Nut, egg and gluten allergies are the most common and most severe – people with these allergies often can’t eat food that has been prepared in the same kitchen as the allergens. Vegetarianism is something you also need to consider. Are you able to find out the dietary requirements of your guests? Don’t forget religious requirements – some food may need to be kosher or halal. Pasta meals are generally easy to organise if they are made with fresh ingredients and if a vegetarian option is offered. If you can have a pasta option and, for example, a potato option (i.e. steak, wedges, fresh steamed vegetables etc) then you have one meal that is vego friendly and one that is egg/gluten friendly. you will need to make sure everything is peanut free. I hope this helps.
