Bilingual EC-6 Fellows can be hired to teach children in any grade from Kindergarten through 6th grade. They can be hired to teach in one or all core areas – Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts – to children as other Elementary Generalists do, except that they sometimes teach in Spanish. They also need to be prepared to use strategies that will help develop students’ language skills in their first language and in their second language, and to use strategies to help second language learners understand the content they are teaching in the language it is being taught.
