What do conservatives think of Ronald Reagans illegal immigrants amnesty?
That was a bad idea as well. There is however a difference in circumstances. We speak now of tens of millions….it was not so in Reagan’s time. Adding tens of millions to medicare and Social Security (as well as opening other available services) is a significant problem to a already bankrupt nation. The political reality for Obama is that America is overwhelmingly opposed to amnesty (and not just Republicans), especially with no border control. Debates about what Reagan should have done or not done in the 80’s makes no difference to that reality. (BTW it not just Obama that has received this opposition but Bush, when he tried twice to do this, as well).
That was one of the things I wish Ronald Reagan had not done. I also emailed Bush to do his job and seal the Boarder. illegal aliens cost the US over 250 Billion a year. 54% of illegal aliens are on welfare. 98% of illegal aliens have less than a HS diploma. All illegal aliens need to be deported. A study has been done to determine the cost of deporting ALL illegal aliens. The cost was estimated around 350 Billion and it was Noted that it would pay for itself in under 2 years. Some say the cost would be much lower. When you see a figure over 350 Billion it has been inflated to make it appear it is to expensive to consider. Then that 250 Billion a year could be used to pay our deficit. Providing it was used for that purpose and government didn’t waste it. It could also be used to pay for a fence, wall etc on our boarder.
