What do culinary chefs do?
Culinary chefs prepare a wide variety of foods and beverages. They work in restaurants, private kitchens and catering services. Main tasks of culinary chefs include: • Creating recipes • Preparing kitchen • Cleaning work areas • Monitoring temperatures • Cooking dishes • Ordering food • Developing menus • Weighing ingredients Executive culinary chefs work with a whole staff of kitchen experts and helpers in order to prepare meals. They order food, determine which ingredients to use and make an overall plan of what the serving sizes will be. Culinary chefs must have good communication skills as they often have to work with other cooks and kitchen staff. They must be very creative to come up with innovative and delicious food dishes. Also, culinary chefs must have extensive knowledge of various regional cuisines as well as cooking, cutting and food preparation skills.
