What do downloading and downloads mean?
In the context of the Internet, the term download or downloading refers to the transfer of electronic data from a remote central system (e.g. a website) to your computer. Electronic data includes any kind of media information (text, audio, images, video) that can be stored in digital form as a file. The data received from the remote system is stored as a file in your computer. Files that are offered for downloading or that have been downloaded are normally called downloads. Some websites provide information in streaming mode but do not allow downloading (i.e. storing in your computer for later replay) for copyright or other reasons.
