What do French people eat on Christmas?

A French holiday dinner quite often begins with an assortment of tantalizing bites. Oysters, either raw or broiled are often presented with their varying condiments. Smoked salmon or other available fish and foie gras are often available. Mains can include Roast lamb, turkey and capon. To add to this there is often haricot vert(green beans), lentils or peas, zucchini, mushrooms and of course potatoes (roasted or pureed). A cheese course is a must afterwards and then Buche de Noel, the Yule Log for dessert respite.
