What do I need to buy a shotgun in California?
You must be 18 or older. You must not be a convicted felon. You must not purchase firearm for any person other than yourself. You must not be convicted in any misdemeanor involving domestic violence. You must not be a user of any illegal drugs including marijuana. You must be a US citizen or a permanent resident alien. You must be a resident of California. (They’ll ask you for a valid ID plus documents proving that you’re a resident. ie: car registration, utility bills) You have never renounced your US citizenship before. You have never been discharged dishonorably from any military services. You have never suffered from any mental illness. You’ll need to purchase a “California approved” gun lock if you don’t have a gun safe.
