What do I need to do to open a computer repair store?

First thing you need is the ability to fix computers, I will assume that is covered. An A+ certification is what I would say is the minimum. Many tech shops do not have anyone with an A+ certification, and I would stay away from them. Not that they are all bad, just that if you don’t get the certs, what does that say?
Next, you need a store front, in a good location, with good traffic. This is the biggest mistake I see with computer shops (and many small businesses). If you do your job well, you will not see your customers much, so you always need new customers.
You need stock. It is not the $50 bench fee that makes money, it is the parts and accessories you sell. The best money is made $10 and $20 at a time, with small sales like cables and doodads that people like. There is nothing wrong with having lots of small items to sell, even gum and candy, because they will draw people in to see the newest monster machine.
You need services, like video transfer, home installations, etc. These don’t make a lot of money, but you will be the go to guy when the next wireless network needs to be set up in a home. Security on these networks is paramount, so always secure them, even if it is at a house 100 yards from the road.

i don’t think you need anything but knowledge of repairing computers and a business license i don’t know what the requirements of a business license is down there but here in ny you don’t even need a ged or high school diploma to get one also you can advertise with flyer’s and cards and on the internet and just keep the business at home if you like
