Well, I think that for this case you will need a good sketchbook and I can help you find a good option. If you are looking for a good sketchbook, then I can give you a link to an article about one pretty cool sketchbook. Here is the link https://wowpencils.com/moleskine-art-plus-sketchbook-review/. It is written in detail about this sketch book with its pros and cons, so read

Most importantly you need to have drawing skills. Especially skills in drawing characters obviously, as that is what you will be moving around. The computer skills wether you want to be a computer animator or traditional (hand drawn) animator. You will need to get into an art school, on a traditional animation or computer animation course. You will need a portfolio to get in there. Portfolio equals drawing skills, things to show. As for computer skills, when you want to become a traditional animator, dont worry about computer skills before you get into art school, they will teach you there. As for a computer animator, the more knowledge of the computer programs that they use in the specific art school you want to attend, the better your chances are of getting in. I think Maya is the most common used program in 3d animation. In the case of 2d animation (and 3d too i guess) you will need drawing skills and therefore practice and focus on your drawing. Buy a ballpoint pen and a sketchbook
