What do nursing assistants do?
Nursing Assistants job is mainly concerned with assistance and care. The CNAs work closely with doctors, nurses and specialists. They are even responsible for monitoring and reporting on how the patients respond to the care and treatment. The areas of service also include assisting the individuals with feeding, grooming, bathing, activities of daily living, checking vital signs and assisting nurses with medical equipments. They act as a liason between the healthcare professionals and the patients as they communicate continuously with them.
You play a critical role helping with the hygiene, comfort, exercise, safety, and other needs of patients. You lift and move patients, observe and report client conditions, collect specimens for tests, and give emotional comfort. To become a nursing assistant in a long-term care facility, you may complete a three-credit course focusing on communication, infection control, safety, residents’ rights, and basic nursing skills. We offer the following courses: • Nursing Assistant Skills 1 NAA or MNA 100 • Nursing Assistant Skills 2 NAA 115 Students must pass the state required Nurse Aide exam to be placed on the state registry. This exam is available on campus and costs $75.00. This fee is the responsibility of the student and is not included in tuition charges. Each Nurse Aide student is also responsible for purchasing Liability Insurance for $20.00 through the business office.
