What do O2 sensors do?
O2 sensors – Oxygen sensors – measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust and send a signal to the computer to tell it how much oxygen there is in the exhaust. The computer adjusts the amount of fuel going to the engine based on this information and information from other sensors for best power, fuel economy and emissions. See Wikipedia article for more information. Typically an O2 sensor is between $50 and $100 for the part, plus labor – which will be more than the part. $250 is a fair price.
