Haven’t had a chance to actually PLAY 4th yet, though I’ve watched a coupla games and read the core books. I’d agree that it seems like it will be easier to pick up for new players, with less optional rule stuff to create confusion. The downside of that is that, by simplifying so many things, it seems that quite a bit of replay value will be lost. Put another way, 3rd offered nearly an infinite variety of ways to build a character, which can be confusing for new players. 4th offers less options, making it less confusing initially, but less fun in the long run, once you’ve been playing for a couple years and are tired of rehashing the same old characters. I have mixed feelings too, is what I’m saying. We’ll see. Ask me again in a year.
