they are scavengers.they will eat nearly anything that they find on the bottom of your tank.they will readilly accept flakes, or frozen foods.just remember, don’t overfeed them or the excess food will remain in the tank rotting, therefore allowing for buildups of toxins in the water.

Anything, generally. You should feed them prawns, whitebait (lancefish), cockles and occasionaly try them on vegetable matter like cucumber. Do not keep them with fish, they will catch and eat them. Also, bear in mind that almost every species is illegal to keep in the UK, so check out the species before you buy. They also grow very large (12″) and can be very nasty to each other.
