What do Resource Management Plans do?
Under Federal law, BLM prepares resource management plans to serve as a “guidebook” for managing for all activities occurring on BLM-managed lands. BLM’s mission is to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of public lands, and land-use planning is vital to our mission. RMPs establish guidance, objectives, policies and management actions for public lands administered by BLM. During the planning process, a wide variety of issues are addressed.
