What do sonographers do?
Working directly with patients, sonographers explain the procedure to patients, operate the ultrasound machine and gather and record patient histories. They also process and analyse the sonographic data and provide a summary of findings to radiologists and other physicians to assist with diagnosis. Many sonographers also assist in patient scheduling, record keeping and computerised image archiving.
