Plymouth Brethren were started in the 1830’s by a man named John Darby. Their main point is Bible study and they have produced some of the greatest Bible teachers in the history of the world. They believe very much like Baptists, only they do not have a pastor leading the church. The church is run by a number of “elders”. What you are referring to is probably a branch of the Brethren which is very exclusive and stays away from everyone else. If you went to their church you would have to sit at the back of the church for probably several months until they approve you. They seek to stay away from the world so they may not have TV’s etc. I would stay away from the exclusive one, but most Brethren churches are open brethren and do not discriminate against you or anyone. You would find them much like the Baptist only without a Pastor. You will get some of the best Bible teaching possible in their churches. As you may have picked up, I have had a great deal to do with them over the years.I l
