What do the volunteers get for volunteering?
The volunteers don’t get paid for the shifts they do. You get to meet a whole host of people from across both Universities, and get involved in a really great scheme that helps other students. We are still developing the scheme in terms of training so there will be changes in the future. Incentives include free pizza on shift, safety bus hoodies, guestlist to some OBSU club nights and safety bus team socials throughout the year. I really want to help, but can’t spare much time… That’s not a problem, we don’t expect people to be able to work every day, and would ideally aim for people to be able to do one shift a fortnight. The rota is worked out weekly by our Safety Bus Administrator. Each week people sign up for shifts if they can do them. If we have a vacant shift we may call you to ask if you can volunteer.
