What do we mean by ascendant or a moon sign or a planet in a particular zodiac sign??
You are from India. Thus you are familiar with the Vedic system of Astrology. The Ascendant is the 30degrees of sky on the eastern horizon when you were born. That is the “1st House” – the next 30 degrees is the “2nd House” etc. etc. till you get all 360 degress in 12 Houses. In India these are called “bhavas” In connection with the 12 houses, there are 12 zodic constellations or “rashis”. As the earth spins on it’s axis, these signs or constellations move through the 12 Houses, the 12 divisions of the sky. Planet’s orbit the sun, and from Earth appear to move through these constellations, and along with them, they move through the houses. The Ascendant is the 1st house, so named because it is rising or ascending over the horizon. This is the foundation of your life and your basic character.
