Since there are so many deserts in the word, we will discuss the Sonora Desert in North America. The North American Deserts can be hot or cold, high or low, flat or have mountains. The Great Basin is a cold desert and it receives a lot of snow. The other deserts are considered hot, and the differences between them are the types of plants that live there. There are different species of animals that live there and each of them has adapted to the climate in the area. The Sonora is 106,000 square miles and is located in Arizona, California and Mexico, including the Baja California Peninsula. This desert is named after the Mexican state of Sonora and this is where most of the desert lies. In this desert the plants are plentiful, and more cacti varities grow in this area than any other desert in the world.
