Lighting is the most important thing to consider and it will depend on whether you are shooting film or digital. If you are shooting digital images, there are more options in terms of lighting because you can change the white balance on your camera based on the lighting situation. For a very cheap and easy lighting arrangement, you can get some shop lights – the kind with clamps and metal reflectors work well. Three or four lights will allow different lighting arrangements that fit most needs. If you want a fairly cheap strobe set-up, Alien Bee lights are a good place to start.
