What does a California smog check Fault Code P1345 on a Chevy Silverado mean?

I had the p1345 on my 2002 Silverado this week. The code means Crankshaft/camshaft position correlation. In other words the cam is not where it is supposed to be in reference to the crank. It could be the Cam position sensor, the crank position sensor , the gear on the distributor or the timing chain. The quickest and cheapest check is the distributor gear which is what mine was. It’s quite common. The gear is about $60 and can be replaced in less than an hour with the right experience. The engine won’t usually run if it’s the crank sensor and the cam sensor is a little more.
