What does a carpentry formwork (housing) apprentice do?
A carpentry formwork (housing) apprentice is involved in: • handling carpentry material and using carpentry tool and equipment • planning and organising workload • carrying out levelling operations and setting out • carrying out excavations • carrying out measurements and calculations • reading and interpreting plans and specifications • erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding The role of the carpentry formwork (housing) apprentice may also include: • placing and fixing reinforcement materials • constructing, erecting and dismantling formwork for stairs and ramps • erecting and dismantling formwork to suspended slabs, columns, beams and walls • erecting and dismantling formwork for footings and slabs on ground • cutting and bending materials using oxy/LPG equipment • operating elevated work platforms.
