What does a civil and structural engineering drafting trainee do?
The trainee assists with applying drafting skills in the civil and structural engineering sector. Graduates work in civil and structural engineering fields and assist with projects such as local government road and other civil works. A civil and structural engineering drafting trainee is involved in: • demonstrating awareness of environmental issues • demonstrating knowledge of civil construction processes • performing calculations related to simple fluid systems • performing measurements and layout tasks on construction sites • solving simple and complex problems in statics and strength of materials • testing and evaluating soils • using basic features of CAD in the preparation of 2D and 3D drawing • preparing structural steel design and reinforced concrete drawings • applying concrete technology to engineering.
