Engineering is about designing and fabricating things. With Civil, it involves structures like buildings, bridges, roads, etc. Obviously, with Computers, it involves the structure and function of a computer, from the computer chip design to the operating system software. One big difference is the tangible aspect of what you build. With Civil, most of things you will deal with are large in physical scale and very tangible. With computer engineering, many aspects are either microscopic and or electronic so they are dealt with in a computer environment. Another significant difference is that Computer Engineering is a much newer field. It didn't really exist more than about 30 years ago. So, it is still rapidly evolving.  more
