What does a horticulture (floriculture) (level 3) trainee do?
A horticulture (floriculture) (level 3) trainee is involved in: • growing flowers, seeds and bulbs • harvesting and preparing flowers for sale and export • preparing large commercial flower garden beds. A trainee would start as a floricultural assistant and progress to a supervisory role, where they may supervise other staff in the performance of certain tasks. As a floriculturalist, you must generally be able to: • plant crops • pick flowers • grade crops • sort flowers • treat and pack crops • drive tractors and other small farm vehicles • propagate plants • maintain irrigation systems • sample soil and analyse results.
