What does a Motor Carrier Officer do?
A Dearborn Police Department Motor Carrier Officer is responsible for enforcing all local and state laws that govern commercial motor vehicles. This includes: axle weight; load securement; driver qualifications; and vehicle equipment. Motor Carrier Officers routinely monitor speed of Commercial Vehicles on City roadways utilizing RADAR. Motor Carrier Officers also respond to serious accident scenes involving commercial vehicles and have received nationally recognized Accident Investigation training to accomplish this task. A Motor Carrier Officer is also responsible for inspecting all taxicabs, limousines, and vendor vehicles that operate within the City of Dearborn.
