I don’t know about thick, but a soft cervix is good, during pregnancy your cervix should be soft.

Soft cervix means that it is starting to prepare for labor. It has to soften before it can open fully. Since you are 1 cm dilated- this means it is 1 cm open. it has to get to 10 before you can have the baby. Some women can stay dilated at 1 cm for weeks and others go into labor soon after starting to dilate. You are still not quite ready yet because as you get closer, the cervix thins out even more. But since this is your second child, labor will probably go faster than it did the first time, so I would get ready to have a baby in the next week or so. Good Luck!
