What does a totally black woolly bear mean?

0

Well there is the common misconception that the amount of brown coloration on the wooly bear can be an indication about the length of winter….but that is not at all true. An all black wooly bear is most likely a different species all together. There are many caterpillars thta are similar looking and most likely belong to the same genus as the wooley bear, so I think it might be completley different. This change of coloration can also be due to geographis location, it is not uncommon to see these types of color morphs in different areas of the world, maybe you just have a darker morph in your neck of the woods, than i do.
