What does being a charity mean?
Being a charity means that if an organisation has any income left over after deducting its running expenses for the year then this surplus is put back into the organisation. GMC being a charity does not mean that GMC’s tutoring or administration staff are volunteers or paid low wages, although we do have volunteers in other capacities. Being a charity also does not mean that tutorials are free, although we do provide community based free workshops. What it does mean is that, as distinct from a independently owned organisation that is geared towards making a profit for its owners, GMC reinvests its profit, thereby giving a clear and unequivocal indication of its commitment to the musical development of the Gorey community..
