A contra-indication is a medical reason or condition that makes massage unsuitable and therefore it should not or may not be carried out. In these instances massage may cause harm, rather than promote well-being. Should I have a shower before my treatment? Preferably treatments should be carried out on clean skin. If your appointment is during the day or directly after work, having a shower in the morning should be sufficient. If you have played sport or been to the gym, it is advisable to have a shower (at the sports ground/gym) prior to your appointment. Please remember that there will be a slight oily residue on your skin after the treatment, therefore you might consider bringing some old clothes or a tracksuit to change into. This will prevent any oil rubbing off on your work clothes. I have a cold, but would still like to attend my appointment. Is this advisable?
